*FKD 13x18* VINTAGE SOVIET FOLDING WOODEN CAMERA (follower of German Gorlitzer)

FKD 13x18 is the Russian abbreviation for "fotokamera dorozhnaya" (photocamera for travel) - the folding camera what has been made in the former Soviet Union in 1940-s. Having 4.5/210 mm lens and the frame of 13x18 cm, this camera must be used on a tripod at a studio or outdoors. There is no shutter on the lens provided by the manufacturer. The speed is adjusted manually by opening and covering the lens with the lens cap. The apperture ring is available on the lens and works. Focusing is realized by moving the back side of the camera off the lens until the flip image appears sharpen on the matt glass. The exposure should be measured by light-meter or found from reference tables. The camera body design allows the lens shift and cassette slope in two planes. When everything is prepared, the photographer hinges out the matte glass, installs the frame with 13x18 cm flat film or photoplate, removes the cover and exposes the film or photoplate by momentory removing the lens cap.
