Georgi Grechko was born on May, 25 1931 in Leningrad (St-Petersburg). In 1955 he finished the Leningrad
Military-mechanical Institute. Since 1957 Oleg Makarov worked in the special constructor office.
On May 23, 1966, Georgi Grechko was added to the Group of the Space Rocketry Complex "Energia".
And on January, 11 1975 he performed the flight on board of SOYUZ-17 with A. Gubarev according to the
program of the first expedition as the flight engineer of SOYUZ-17 and orbital station SALUT-4. For this
flight Georgi Grechko was awarded the highest award of USSR - Hero of USSR Star.
On December 10, 1978 he performed his second spaceflight together with Y. Romanenko as the flight
engineer of SOYUZ-26. He worked with V. Dzhanibekov and O. Makarov, A. Gubarev and V. Remek on the
orbital station SALUT-6. During the flight he performed the space walk.
On September 17, 1985 Georgi Grechko performed his third spaceflight as the flight engineer of SOYUZ T-14/13
together with V. Vasutin and A. Volkov according to the program of visiting orbital station SALUT-7.
He also worked with V. Dzhanibekov and V. Savinykh on the orbital station.
Between the flights he was also preparing for other missions. After leaving the cosmonauts group he worked
at the Institute of Atmosphere Physics.
