SK-1 pressure suit was developed for Vostok space program successfully accomplished by the Soviets in 1960-s. Before the manned space flights the suit had been tested on mannequin named "Ivan Ivanovich". All the first 6 Soviet cosmonauts - the crew members of Vostok - worn SK-1. They are Gagarin, Titov, Nikolaev, Popovich, Bykovsky, Tereshkova. Zvezda developed the special ejection seat for Vostok spacecraft, which provided for an emergency escape in the ascent phase and normal ejection of the cosmonaut before landing (there was no soft landing system on Vostok). The SK-1 full-pressure space suit, equipped with an auxiliary life support system and survival features, provided for cosmonaut safety under all expected environmental conditions of flight and after landing.
